Tony Sheridan just passed away at the age of 72
If you don't know who Tony Sheridan was, check out some of The Beatles earliest recordings. You'll hear his voice. He was also the first British musician to play the electric guitar on TV. He toured with the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry.
He wasn't involved with The Beatles for long but he was key to their career.
Tony used to perform in Hamburg in the early 1960's when he met Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe on bass at the time and Pete Best on drums. He introduced the band to Little Richard recordings among other early R&B recordings and also helped them shape their look at the time (leather bomber jackets, boots).
"Tony was a good guy who we knew and worked with from the early days in Hamburg. We regularly watched his late night performances and admired his style. He will be missed" - Paul on Tony's passing
